3 Weeks in Europe

Hi Everyone,
Well today started off interesting... As you know I haven't been sleeping well and last night was no exception. So as I laid awake at 2 am I decided that maybe if I took only 1 Tylenol PM I could get 5 hours of sleep before I had to wake up as I was meeting Helen at the train station at 8. Well, at 8:18 Helen calls to see where I am.... I was out cold and jumped up and told her "hang tight I will be there". Our train was leaving at 9:25 and as far as I know they don't wait for over sleepers. There goes getting ready. I hopped up, brushed my teeth, put on a dab of makeup, got dressed and out the door in 15 minutes. As I was running to the metro, coat not even zipped and frigid outside I was not going to miss that train.
We got into Brussels at 10:45 and boarded another train to Bruges an hour away. Wow, what a beautiful place. It was from a book. But the first thing we noticed is... We thought Paris was cold... ???? Well Belgium is FREEZING!!!!! literally! Snow on the ground freezing. But so worth it. A place I highly recommend.  We walked around the city, tried to see the top 10 sights, I think we saw 5 maybe 6 and did some shopping. We had a great time. Helen is such a wonderful person, who knew I would meet a friend so special on this trip. When she noticed I hadn't blogged in a day she was calling to make sure I was OK and although she was so happy she came today her decision to come was because she didn't want me to be alone. How many people do you meet that treat you like they have known you for years? I really look forward to our continued friendship. I taught her how to do the solo photo shoot and we practiced and laughed at ourselves. We both gravitated to the stores that had a culinary area, we got excited about cookbooks and tiny brioche molds. Jealous??? I thought so... haha  Well it was time to head back to the train station back to Paris. Not a bad place to go back to, did I tell you I love Paris?
Going to picturesque Bruges was a perfect thing to do today, just to see such a beautiful area and enjoy great company was outstanding.
We got back, hugged goodbye and will meet up again in class tomorrow.
Who knew, but at the train station there was a video shop and they had DVD's 3 for 10 euro, I'm not saying they are current movies mind you , but hey they are movies and they are in English, to me that is a winner. I just finished Sideways, I never saw that movie and now I am an owner:) I don't know what will be next, maybe Toi et Moi et Dupree.... I bet you can figure this one out. I never knew that most movies translate to English. Travelling, see what you learn?
Another thing I've been meaning to share....Remember the scary guy on the Metro train? The baguette on the floor story? Well my lucky day, he was back on the metro yesterday. For some reason he didn't affect me at all. I just ignored him and kind of laughed to myself. I wish I would have had that attitude before because then I would have got to eat that amazing little piece of goodness. I am practically a local now don't you think?
Well I am going to try and go to sleep now as I am pretty tired, wish me luck!!! Maybe if I take another
Tylenol PM I won't need luck! lol
Well it's 2 hours later since I wrote that last line, Lauren called and we were catching up on things. She loves my blog by the way. Do you think she is a bit impartial????? So it is now 2:17 AM, it's morning and I haven't even gone to sleep. I am still going to take the Tylenol pm as I need more than luck tonight going to sleep.
Be well and Be Happy
Love you, Mean it, Ciao  (getting myself ready for Italy)
Until tomorrow,
Laura
Peace and tranquility to all....

Thought for the day:
Isn't it amazing how G-d brings you  friends when you need them?

  1. Laura,
Wanted to say that I am still reading your blog everyday! I am sad to hear about your friend. I remember you talking about him when we went to dinner and showing us the ring and I am so glad that you did : ) It is my 25th bday today, so my mama came to visit from SD. I was showing her your blog and pics and reading her all of the "thought for the days", she loves it!!!
It is so great that you have found such a good friend in Helen and that you can share special moments such as Le cordon Bleu and traveling to Belgium together...so so awesome.

Sending you lots and lots of love,
    Melis
