Day 34 aka Valentines Day

 Hi Everyone,
I hope you liked my previous Valentine Blog. But that didn't mean I wasn't going to blog about my day:)
I slept in which was fantastic and just got ready slowly and enjoyed my morning. I was going to go to Cinque Terra today, but when I was talking to the sales girl at Gucci last night she told me it would be better to go from Florence as it is an hour closer and I am going to be there for 12 days so I will have the time. Excellent idea!!!
So I decided to venture out on a pursuit to find more things that my audio guide said were worth while. So I jumped in a taxi and headed to
Castello Sforzesco, it is a huge castle that was built in the 1400's that has around 6 museums within it. I walked around for a long time and visited the various museums inside. It was really a beautiful area and there were actually quite a few people there.
Then I walked back towards the Duomo so I could listen to what the guide said about that and then to the Piazza and listened to that (I was quite busy). Milan is a great city, I really like it and it's funny because I really got mixed messages about coming here. I think everywhere has something to offer.
So this man was sitting on the ground carving these beautiful flowers, birds, etc out of vegetables. They were amazing. It was so cold and he was just sitting there carving away. You could drop some money in his basket to take pictures or you could buy his products. There are so many people that have such creativity and talent. Milan is innovative in almost every area you can think of and everything that the Italian culture does it is with such attention to detail. Down to putting a purchase into a bag. No matter how long the line is, to them you are the only one there. Their patience is such a wonderful thing to experience.
I couldn't resist having my picture taken in front of Louis and Prada, I took one in front of Gucci as well but it was blurry.
Contrary what many of you might think I really didn't go crazy here at all. It has been a blessing that the sales are going on so a little goes a long way:) Although there is another box packed and ready to go:)
Since I have been here I have seen these big pink snails, I have taken a few pictures in front of them but haven't liked them so today I took another and I just have to post it because these snails were so cute.
I walked back to my hotel and when I got to my room the bell rang and my friend brought me roses for Valentines day and asked me to go to dinner. We went to at a really nice restaurant, came back and talked and watched movies. I have been quite spoiled since arriving in Milan, I forgot how nice it is. I think I could used to someone being so nice to me. Not that people aren't nice to me, you know what I mean.
Well I am off to Venice tomorrow morning, another area uncharted for me. Wish me luck and I will be writing to you tonight.

Love always,
Laura

  1. How lovely that your friend bought you flowers and took you to dinner ... and you were worried you'd spend it alone?? Not possible for someone as wonderful as you!!

Can't wait to hear all about Venice.
