The time has come to for me to move on from Pisa, it is bittersweet because I really enjoyed my time here so much. The people were warm and friendly, my hotel was great and well... the Leaning Tower was breathtaking. But here I go to Milano.
Expectations are funny because I expected the same train to Milano as I had to Pisa. It looked the same from the outside. As I boarded (my bag a bit weightier than when I arrived in Pisa), a nice man helped me and my bag on the train! I found my seat! WOW! it was a compartment that I could wheel my bag into with me. How great is that? Great! Trust me on this! I have the entire 6 seat compartment to myself and it has a glass door that I close and I am warm and cozy:) The man that helped me on the train came by to make sure I found my seat ok. Later on he brought me a croissant and a magazine to read. (I must have looked hungry:) It turns out that he is in Italy for business and is heading to Milan as well, staying at the Westin like moi!
In less then 30 minutes my view from my window went from sunny skies with a water view to snow and a mountain view. I swear that fast. Maybe even quicker. See Pics!!! Can you believe that? It was so weird, we went through a tunnel and came out to snow drifts. Then my peaceful roomy private compartment got filled with a family and I was squished with my bag right in front of me! How fast things change:) But it was fine, they were really nice and I was still happy to have my bag with me.
Then my new friend came back to help me and my bag off the train and invite me to ride in his taxi to the hotel. So funny! We got to the hotel checked in (separately) exchanged room numbers and I went up to enjoy my beautiful room. Oh... how I love luxury:)!!!! My phone rang 30 minutes later and we were off to see the city. We walked around and he took me to The Duomo. Can you believe how big this church is? It was gorgeous. The detail was amazing. We then walked to where all my other friends live...Gucci, Louis, D&G, Valentino, Roberto, Cartier, Prada, Flavio, Pinko etc, etc,etc... I have never seen anything like it in my entire life, this could be a dangerous city. Very dangerous. We had a nice dinner, my first time eating escargot (it was good) and came back to the hotel, said goodnight and I went to my room and he to his.
I am going to see Leonardo Di Vinci's "Last Supper" tomorrow morning and my friend has a meeting, so we will probably catch up in the afternoon and hang out again. I had such a fun day and it was great to have companionship with such a nice man.
It is time for me to get some sleep in my "Heavenly" bed, which it is. Milan is a great city and to think people were trying to tell me not to come here. I have no idea why it's beautiful and there is so much to see.
I will keep you posted on my adventures,
Love always,
Laura
Oh yes, I had a little photo shoot on the train!!!!
Thought for the day:
Everyone needs a little sweetness in their life....
