Buonjourno,
Hi everyone, I am packed and ready to go to Venezia (Venice to us Americans), although I prefer Venezia;) I am pretty tired as I only got a few hours of sleep, I am getting all to use to no sleep.
I took my box downstairs to have it shipped out (that's box #6) but who's counting:) So has anyone out there lined me up a job for my return? Actually, I do have one lined up, but open to more.
As I was down checking out my friend came to say Buon Viaggio and said I needed to eat and took me to breakfast. He then proceeded to make me a snack for the road. I was quite spoiled in Milan and it was fun.
So I have no pictures to show you from the train as I slept the entire time. My bag was behind me and had to fend for itself, I was exhausted. At one point when the train stopped I thought I was in Venezia so I grabbed my bag and headed to the door and realized it wasn't my stop. So I got to return to my nap:)
Venice is beautiful, I knew it was going to be, but I had no idea. It is also a lot bigger than I thought it was. I had a little anxiety when getting off the train, there were a million people everywhere all dressed up in lavish costumes and I was like "What the heck is going on" Come to find out it is carnivale. It is a huge yearly event that people come from all over the world to attend, it lasts for 10 days and is over tomorrow night. I had better go get a mask:) What do you think that outfit in the picture would set me back? Also, what I didn't realize is that the shopping is like a little Milan. Everywhere you look there is one high end store after another.
My hotel is another small boutique type place and is very cute. My room is the size of an ant. I kid you not. I like it it's just the tiniest little room I have ever seen. It makes the room Whitney and I had at The Hudson in New York look like the presidential suite. (It didn't even have a closet) or ya, this room doesn't either. I am happy here though and the people are great. I had dinner at the restaurant, I went in and he showed me what he was serving, I chose the soup, salad and pasta in artichoke sauce. He then asked me what time I wanted to eat. I said "when will it be ready?" and the cute answer was, "well I make everything from scratch so it will take me about an hour". I said "perfect, see you in an hour". So I went for a walk and came back and asked where he would like me to sit. He said "find the most beautiful table and that is the table I set for you" I did and it was perfect. Flowers, candles, wine, and bread all set out and waiting for me. Dinner was delicious. What a great first night in Venice.
I'm not kidding everyday something surprises and amazes me.
Tomorrow is my day to explore. I have a feeling I will get lost, the streets are so narrow and there are a million of them. So I should be in for an adventure.
Goodnight from across the world.
Sending my love,
Laura

Thought for the day:
When things change and don't look like they are going your way, they still are, it just means that you need to change direction and better things are to come.
