Day 22

Bonjour to the my friends and family in the US and Bonsoir to my friends in Paris,
Well I started off  my day as I start most of my days in Paris. Planning on doing something cultural and meaningful. So I mapped out and charted my course to go to the Nissim de Camondo. Adrian and Vicki were telling me about it last Saturday night. It is a mansion that houses the largest collection of 18Th century furnishings, many from Versailles. It is across Paris for me so I planned accordingly. I boarded the Metro, changed at the correct station, walked according to Maps on my IPhone and Voila!!! I was there!!! How proud I was that I just got there like I had been there a hundred times, only if I had been there a hundred times I would have known that the Musee is closed on Tuesdays!!! Geez, can't I ever succeed with a mapped and plotted out day? I guess not. I will be back tomorrow....
So then I had to ask myself "Self what am I suppose to do today"? As I was making my way back to the Metro I saw something that can be very dangerous for a little Jewish girl alone in Paris. The words consignment and sale together!!!! I looked in the window and saw Channel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, Cartier, all my friends that are so much fun:) So of course I went right in to say "Bonjour" An hour later and a bag full of fabulous finds. I was off to find another little gem the sales girl told me about that was just a Metro ride away and a 5 minute walk. Oh! did I mention it was pouring down rain? Cie la vie... rain never hurt anyone. So there I was again surrounded by familiar faces. I found a few more finds...simply divine.
So here is the thing... All of you know I am a Chef now and have a degree and am an excellent Event Planner so "LINE ME UP SOME WORK" when I get home pahhhhleeese! Alone in Paris is dangerous but not the way I thought it might be. I must go find another box tomorrow, home bound to America!!!! Actually though, Louis Vuitton is for France and Gucci is for Italy and like I said yesterday, I am gearing up for Italy. I think I'm ready now:) But having a job when I get home might not be a bad idea:)
Hands full and another Metro ticket in hand I was off to class. It was a great class Croustillants Sucres
(Crispy Treats) Doesn't the French word sound so sexy?? The Chef was absolutely amazing, very handsome as well which is always a plus. But seriously such a good instructor. His mannerisms reminded me of my nephew Graham as well as his teaching style. We prepared Tarte Crumble Pomme-Cannelle-Orange. It was great fun to make and it turned out really nice. So now with my school bag  filled with essentials, computer, aprons, towels and now a Tarte and my other bag filled with all of my incredible finds, I had my hands full indeed. I made my way back to the hotel, gave my little Tarte to the front desk. They love when they see me coming in the door:) He opened the box immediately and took a bite, he said it was tres bon. This picture is before the crispy topping. I think it tasted better than it looked. But it was really good.

I went to my favorite little restaurant by my hotel for dinner and a glass of wine (a ritual I quite enjoy) when unexpectedly I was brought another glass of wine that a nice man ordered for me. He came over to the table later and I thanked him and we spoke for a while and he asked me out for coffee tomorrow, having such a social life as I do, I already have plans tomorrow night, then he asked for Thursday and again I have plans (aren't I the busy one?) So we said we would meet on Friday night at the restaurant.. He kissed me on my hand, it was pretty cute:) I am now safely in my room blogging to all of you and feeling just a bit tipsy. I really only have a two glass of wine tolerance. ha
If you thought I wasn't going to show you my finds you are crazy... Of course I am going to show you, just saving it for last:)
I hope everyone is having the best day possible.
Sending my love to all and special prayers to Meghan, Katie, Nicole and Jon you are in my thoughts constantly!!!
Avec amour,
Laura

Thought for the day:

  2. Hi Laura,
I really enjoy reading your blogs. It is the only way to keep up with what you are doing. I had a laugh when you made a little fun of being jewish. We all like to joke about our own ethnic or cultural backgrounds. I could not help but feeling a little jealous of the man sending you a glass of wine. Next time you turn down his glass of wine, I will have a full case waiting for you here.
    Love,
    Bill Etreby
