Day 23
Hello Everyone,
Well I had another full day, it's funny how busy you can be when you have no schedule. I thought I had better check out the Post Office situation this morning, (last time the hotel took care of it for me, more on that later) and when I got there I said "Bonjour" you know trying to be friendly and all and the guy.... let's just call him Philippe, was not in a cheery mood. I asked him if he spoke English and his reply was "If I want to" Well.... Here is my chance to once again try and soften a person. So in my nicest, most polite way I said "Well I hope you do, because I really need your assistance" He asked what I needed and I told him about my inability to get all of my finds into my suitcase. He cracked a smile so I knew I was beginning to break him:) Philippe showed me the box and it was sooooo small. I bought 2, they were 41 euros a piece to mail, I think I may need more! I said they are really small.... But this is where he got my attention, he informed me that I needed to list everything in the boxes for when they go through customs, well I didn't do that for my other box, no one said anything, so that scared me a bit. And I really should have, just so I would remember what was in that box. So lets keep our fingers crossed and hope my first box makes the journey back to America in one piece with all of it's contents intact.
I made it to Nissim de Camondo today as well. Now that was well worth the trip back. What an amazing, beautiful mansion. I could actually picture myself living there:) The artwork and furniture were stunning and believe it or not the kitchen was huge and had a Salamander (people who know me know how I love Salamanders) I enjoyed listening to the Audio guide that they give you to explain all the details of the home. The picture as you have probably figured out is one of the rooms.
I then went on the search for the other consignment store that I heard about yesterday. When I got there, there wasn't one store there were five, one for shoes and handbags, one men, one housewares, one for clothes and one for jewelry. It is crazy how much stuff they have, good stuff. I had my eye on this beautiful coat, amazing really but it was a little out of my budget. I need to pace myself. Then I saw the cutest things ever the little Harley and Manolo baby version. They were 2200. euro each. That's over $3000.00 dollars!!! Aren't they so cute?
I then headed back to the hotel to get ready as I met Erica for dinner tonight. She picked out the perfect little place "La Cordonnerie" which translates to "The Shoemaker", I don't really understand that, but I'm sure they have their reasons. The restaurant only had six tables and they take reservations a half an hour apart with no turnover. Erica said lunch is different. The Chef (who you see in the picture) was so sweet he came out to each table and spoke about the menu and preparation. He even told us how he made the desserts. There were only three people working, the Chef, a waiter and we think the Chef's wife. We had a really nice time and enjoyed our meal, our bottle of wine and course and our constant conversation. Erica is a great girl and I am so happy that I met her and that we were able to get together before I leave Paris. It will be nice to keep in touch and see each other again. She said I will love Italy and gave me some good advice, as she lived there. She also had me cracking up telling me dating stories in Paris:) and she agrees people are all over each other here!!!
I haven't been sleeping lately and just looked at the time and it is 3:30 am. I think I better get some sleep or try to anyway.
I hope everyone out there reading this is doing well and having a Tres' Magnifique day!!! Write to you soon.
Amour toujours,
Laura

"Trust that little voice in your head that says,
"Wouldn't it be interesting if......" and then do it"
